Janel Scholtz is a Clinical Associate at Center for Healthy Sex, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Certified Sex Therapist.
Janel specializes in the treatment of sexual concerns for both individuals and couples. Janel is certified as a Sex Therapist by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT). She enjoys helping couples improve their relationship, creating emotional intimacy along with a passionate sexual relationship. As a therapist, she joins with her clients to help them achieve the balance, health and growth they desire. Janel uses the following models when treating couples, tailoring her work to each specific couple: Psychobiological Approach to Couples therapy (PACT) level 2 trained, Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1 trained, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Imago Relationship Therapy.
In addition to the treatment of sexual concerns and couples therapy, Janel has many years of counseling experience and expertise in the treatment of anxiety, depression, grief and trauma. She has a special focus on trauma recovery and is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) advanced level, and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Janel is also trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Janel received her Master of Arts in Counseling degree, with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy, from Saint Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. She is a member of California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and AASECT. Janel is passionate about helping individuals and couples have healthier, more connected relationships with themselves and others. LMFT #110392
