Interactive webinar with Terry Marks-Tarlow, PhD on Using Creative Communications Within Psychotherapy: Challenges and Opportunities
Effective psychotherapy is inherently creative, not so much artistically, as through attention to novelty and amplification of new ways to be, act, and relate to others, which holds true for therapists and patients alike. By attuning ourselves to creative communications that emerge both spontaneously and deliberately during sessions, we deepen the growth potential of the work.
Terry Marks-Tarlow, PhD is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Santa Monica, CA. She is author of Clinical Intuition in Psychotherapy, Awakening Clinical Intuition, Psyche’s Veil, Truly Mindful Coloring, and most recently, Play & Creativity in Psychotherapy. She is Adjunct Professor at Pacifica Graduate Institute; Visiting Professor at Italian Universita Niccolo Cusano London; and Core Faculty at the Insight Center, Los Angeles. Terry illustrates all of her books and produces art exhibitions and theater events showcasing psychotherapist art; she dances, plays the piano, does yoga daily, and has written two librettos for mini-operas, which have premiered at Lincoln Center in New York City.
