Often when we experience a trauma we cope with it by burying it so deeply that it ceases to exist in our conscious minds. When clients have a history of sexual assault or childhood sexual abuse they frequently come in with symptoms that are remnants of their abuse. Our job is to highlight the connection between their symptoms and their trauma, in order to reveal the meaning behind their behavior and help lead them to healing.
Learning Objectives:
- Assess for history of childhood sexual abuse & sexual assault.
- Understand the relationship between sexual abuse trauma and sexual dysfunction.
- Understand the relationship between sexual abuse trauma and sex addiction.
